Passing of Dale T. Boyd

Dale Todd Boyd, member of the 1011th Reserve Unit



Dale “Butch” Todd Boyd, 65, died unexpectedly Saturday, November 5, 2011 at Saint Francis-Via Christi Hospital in Wichita, Kansas.




Cremation has taken place under the direction of Potts Chapel of Independence. Celebration of Life Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church with Reverend Delores “Dee” J. Williamston officiating. Friends may sign the register book from 12Noon until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday with family receiving friends from 6:00 until 7:00 P.M. at Potts Chapel of Independence.



Memorial remembrances are suggested to First United Methodist Church or Shriner’s Hospital and they may be left at Potts Chapel or mailed to P.O. Box 801, Independence, Kansas 67301.



Dale was born in Spearville, Kansas January 16, 1947. At the age of 5, he and his family moved to Independence. He graduated from Independence High School in 1965 and married Patricia Jane Grabham at Independence, Kansas in 1966.



He was a veteran of the 1011th United States Army Reserve Unit for 6 years.



Dale attended Wichita State University from 1969 to 1970. He then became employed for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Wichita in the marketing department. Southwestern Bell transferred him to Independence in 1970. He went to work for Hackney & Sons from 1971 until 1976 when he became an insurance agent for Farmers Insurance group. He served as an agent for 12 years and as a district manager for 10 years.



He then became employed with Newkirk Dennis & Buckles Insurance in Independence where he was working at the time of his death.



He was the youngest master of the Independence Masonic Lodge and also a member of the Shriner’s Association,



Survivors include wife of 45 years, Patsi of the home, daughter, Kristin Scott, and her husband and two children and son Brian Todd Boyd.
